Our Story

We have been making the finest quality wigs for a very long time! The Joseph’s Wigs story begins with our founder Barbara Wells who completed her wig making apprenticeship in the 1950's in London. Wearing ladies wigs was all the rage and Barbara was at the forefront of a movement.

As official suppliers to the NHS, Barbara, her niece Claire along with Stuart are able to advise you on all of the different types of wigs, hairpieces and toupees available in our extensive catalogue. On offer are acrylic fibre, human hair, monofilament, hand-tied, lace front and machine wefted wigs for all ages from brands such as Ellen Wille, Amore, Gisela Mayer, Noriko, Revlon and Dimples.

At our shop in Morden, Surrey, appointments are conducted within a private wig fitting room to ensure a discreet, compassionate and dedicated service. We can discuss the different styles and colours you would like to try, and we will make measurements to ensure each wig is the correct fit. We welcome customers bringing a friend or family member along to offer support and a second opinion.

Claire decided to take the plunge and take over the business after her mother-in-law was diagnosed with breast cancer a few years ago. Claire and Stuart then saw first hand how traumatic it was to lose your hair and the limited choice available to those in the situation of having to find a wig.

We expect you’ll have many questions and concerns. In our appointments we cover every aspect of wearing a wig, including how to put it on and how to wash and care for it etc. We will also answer any questions you have, no matter how trivial and silly you’re worried they may sound! We’re here for you.

We appreciate how traumatic it can be, from personal experience - to lose some or all of your hair. Using our extensive experience and knowledge we will advise you of all of your wig or hairpiece options. You can then make the right choice for you.

Our wig shop is located 24 Rosehill Court, Bishopsford Road, Morden, Surrey, SM4 6JS. We hold stock instore of around 4,000 different styles of wigs. If you want to pop in for an informal chat you can do so any weekday (please call beforehand).
