We operate on an appointment only basis with private fitting rooms and hundreds of wigs for women and men to try in store. We offer many different types of ladies wigs, hairpieces and men's toupees including synthetic and human hair wig types, as well as monofilament, lace front, hand-tied and machine wefted wig cap constructions to customers throughout the UK.

The company was established in the 1960s and have been helping clients with solutions for all types of hair loss.

Josephs’ founder Barbara Wells having completed her apprenticeship in the West End of London in the late 1950s. Claire Cullip, Barbara’s niece, become the Head Consultant and has taken over the day to day running of Joseph's having started as a Saturday girl over 17 years ago. Working along side Claire is husband Stuart who operates the website.

Claire decided to take the plunge and take over the business after her mother-in-law was diagnosed with breast cancer a few years ago. Claire then saw first-hand how traumatic it was to lose your hair and the limited choice available to those in the situation of having to find a wig.

As we have mentioned we are wig makers by trade and if you want to get the most natural-looking wig then perhaps a human hair wig is the one for you. We offer a custom made service where a wig is custom designed and made specifically for you or you can take a look at our range of ready-made human hair wigs where each one is carefully tied by hand, to create a lifelike wig that really turns heads!

Because human hair has a scale-like growth direction, and any hairs put into the wig upside down will cause tangling, each strand must be carefully sorted to ensure there’s not a hair out of place. Once this is done, the hair is woven into the cap by hand, a few strands at a time, and then knotted precisely and securely to generate the most realistic growth effect possible. Hand-tied wigs take time and effort, but they’re worth it!

Care for your human hair wig the way you would your own hair: carefully brush and shampoo your wig to keep it in its original, beautiful condition. We recommend wig shampoo for best results as they have been specifically formulated for this purpose.
